LITTLE DEATH: Sundance Film Review

Little Death is the debut feature from director Jack Begert. Begert is known for directing music videos for some of the world’s top artists, including Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, and even Sir. Paul McCartney. He has been working on this film over the course of the past nine years, including a “proof-of-concept” short in 2019 following the same concept. Ultimately, he was able to get producer Darren Aronofsky and his team at Protozoa on board in order to bring this project to Sundance. In the film, Begert’s singular vision is evident. He incorporates a visual “soup” (his own words), including AI, to showcase the inner workings of the mind [one of] our protagonists (David Schwimmer). Ultimately, the film is divided into two parts, with vastly different narrative and visual approaches used in each.

Starring: David Schwimmer, Dominic Fike, Talia Ryder, Jena Malone, Sante Bentivoglio, and Gaby Hoffman
